As of June 2002, one Canadian dollar (CDN $1) is equal to US $ 0.664. The Registration Fee includes the cost of participants to attend all sessions, the welcome reception, two daily coffee breaks, daily lunch at the New College dining hall, and the Conference Banquet. In addition, the full Registration Fee entitles each participant to a copy of the Conference Digest, a "XII-ICPPP bag" and writing materials, and a copy of the Review of Scientific Instruments issue with the Conference Proceedings papers, to be mailed to the participant's address. Besides the publication fee of the RSI issue on Photoacoustic and Photothermal Phenomena, which is covered by the registration fee and entitles each participant to a copy, authors whose papers will be accepted for publication in RSI will be charged a modest page fee by the journal (approx. US $35 per published journal page) to be paid directly to the American Institute of Physics upon receipt of the galley proofs. The student registration fee does not include a copy of the RSI issue or the Conference Banquet.

The fee for each accompanying person includes the welcoming reception and the excursion (trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario), and the Conference Banquet, but does not include admission to the scientific sessions and copies of Conference publications. Information on local sightseeing and possible group events will be available at the Registration Desk (see "Social Program").

Student, Young Scientist and Hardship Support

Student registrations should be accompanied with a letter from the student's supervisor on the university's or department's letterhead stating the student's academic status. Through the generous support (committed and expected) of our sponsors, some partial financial assistance will be available for students and junior scientists.

If you like to be considered for support, please submit to the Conference Chairman a one-page letter describing your research accomplishments and the material you would like to present at the Conference. A letter of recommendation from your supervisor should accompany your application. Please include your name, position, mailing address, fax number, e-mail address and a brief comment on the special reasons for which you are seeking financial assistance. Make sure to sign the letter and submit this information no later than January 15, 2001. In addition, written requests to the Conference Chairman from exceptional financial hardship cases will be accepted and adjudicated by the Conference Committee for partial support on a case-per-case basis, depending on the availability of funds.
